Peterborough & District Family History Society

Safeguarding Policy

June 2018

Peterborough & District Family History Society (PDFHS) takes the safety of everyone within the society very seriously and expects that everyone will work within the PDFHS safeguarding policy. In particular, PDFHS expects anyone who becomes aware of a safeguarding risk or of actual abuse, to raise this (see the final point below).

If working with children, young people and/or adults who are vulnerable PDFHS should have a commitment to the following:

  1. 1 Treating everyone with respect, setting a positive example for others
  2. 2 Respecting personal space and privacy
  3. 3 Ensuring any actions cannot be misrepresented by someone else
  4. 4 Challenging unacceptable behaviour
  5. 5 Not putting anyone, including yourself in a vulnerable or compromising situation
  6. 6 Not having inappropriate physical or verbal contact with others
  7. 7 Not keeping allegations or suspected abuse secret. You should report to the NSPCC or police but not make anyone else aware of the allegations, especially the alleged perpetrator.
